We have a 4 yr old chow. He has recently started barking and agitated around strangers. My son tried to get him outside and he bite him, drawing a little blood. The bite mark was there all day. My husband tried to brush him and he bite him leaving a small mark. I tried to get him away from the door to open it for a visitor and he growled at me with a very aggressive look. We have no chow rescue in our area and no one will take him due to his breed for adoption. What should we do?

Is he neutered?
How much time do you spend with him? How often is he walked? When did this behavior start? Any changes in the home?

Ov Vey! Why anyone would want a chow I will never know. They are an aggressive breed that you really have to work with constantly to make them loving.
My best friend has one and he is somewhat aggressive with strangers. I kept him for 2 weeks when he was younger and he knows who the alpha male is when I am around.
You might want to look into more of a family dog, like a Golden Retriever. They are so nice if your house was being robbed, the Golden would hold the door open for the robbers.
I am completely a German Shepherd dog lover. Yes they can be aggressive but they are incredibly loving and loyal to the family members. And smart as can be.
Bottom line is you shouldn't be afraid of your dog.
