I've had a best friend since elementary school that I'll call R. He has had a huge impact on my life. For example, he's responsible for my interest in art, foreign language, and even the way I dress. We used to draw in each other's sketchbooks and laugh and talk about nothing every time we had a chance. It was that way all up until high school.
I don't remember exactly what happened, but I know that we were still fine for the first semester of our freshman year. He would see me and give me a huge hug, and I'd hug him back. We didn't have any classes together, but we were still good friends. I think the problems started closer to the second semester. Without a reason apparent to me, our relationship came to a screeching halt. He would walk past me in the halls without even smiling back at me, he wouldn't even say hi to me while we stood next to each other in a group of friends, and when I would say hi to him, he would reply with a short greeting and immediately start talking to whoever was nearest to him. I asked him about it on Facebook, but he totally denied it, saying that I was like a brother to him and he would never purposefully avoid me.
I'm not buying it though. He won't even reply to my text messages recently, and he wears a sullen face all the time around me. On top of that, he seems to have a new best friend who's a mutual friend of ours, which made me unexpectedly jealous.
I don't know what went wrong in our friendship, but I'd do anything if it could bring us back to the way we were. How can I bring up the subject again without seeming pushy, or should I even bring it up at all?
