So is it time to take the threat of sharks seriously? Are the sharks fighting back?

For a long time sharks have been protected but there are an increasing number of reports of shark attack. Should we again resort to actively keeping people and sharks apart, meshing the beaches, putting the spotters in the air and actively fishing for shark as a viable food source, not just cutting off the fins and throwing the rest away.
