My old beagle mix prefers to spend most of his time outside. He has a dog house with lots of straw. I have always have had doggie beds inside & make him come in @ night in the winter. I let him out every 2 or 3 hrs in the evening & before I go to bed.He pees on his bed & then moves out of that area. I have started using large moving blankets. I don't know how long he's been doing this, as he won't come inside when it's warm outside. He does smell just awful. I'm unemployed & don't have lots of extra money. I do give him an asprin every day 4 his arthritis. Can anyone Please Help?
Thank You!!

It could be serious or not - only a Vet can tell.

Losing urine while sleeping is not terribly unusual when a dog is old.

I understand the "not having money" part - how is he behaving otherwise?

First of all, giving your dog an aspirin once a day is very dangerous. Although your dog may not act sick, you are still ulcerating his stomach. Even baby aspirin, which back in the day was considered a good solution, is very bad for dogs. If you feel as if he is painful, take him into the vet for the proper medications. You can also start him on glucosamine tabs to help with joint health.

Him peeing in his bed and wanting to leave tells me he might be incontinent. Many people believe that only the females become incontinent, but the boys can have this problem too. There are medications available to help with this problem, but you'd need to go into the vet.

He may have a bladder infection. Again, most people think this is only a female dog's problem, but boys can have this problem as well.

There really is no way around the fact your dog needs to see a vet. Seeing as how he is not in immediate danger, save up some money and take him in. There is no magical cure that anyone can tell you over the internet to help you with his problems. Be a responsible pet owner and take care of your old boy.
