I'm looking for help with a break in the small 22g wire in a thermostat controlled
Ceiling heat room. I know where the break is, can I resolder in a small wire at that
Point and re mud to make a simple repair. I cannot find anyone who understands
This type of heating? Is there a specific kind of wire to be used? I understand that
Repair is possible by soldering and shrink tubing the connection, then remuding
Some web searching says do not attempt, call a professional, a wrong wire conn-
Ection could fail and catch fire. Now I'm scared, please help. I'm a handy carpenter
But I am not sure what to do. Thanks for any info. Repair is for a popcorn ceiling
Condo in Illinois.

If its in the ware that actually gets hot... no you can't solder it.. that's nichrome wire if it's the heating element.. if you are talking.about. Fixing THAT is NOT a do-it-yourself job.

However that would not be buried in the wall or ceiling if it was... are we talking the control wires between the thermostat and the contactors? Or the power feed line before the contactors? THOSE can be fixed. There is not much current in the wires to the Thermostat, and splicing it is not difficult as long as its done right. (strip, twist tightly together, solder and shrink wrap the repair).
