My water softner is not draining. I put it in brine mode, unplug it and wsit couple hours and nothing drains. Please help cannot afford Sears to come out and fix it. Venturi had been replaced. The seal kit stuff looks good.
Thank you

Suction seems weak

Forgot to add it's a sears dir+ model # 625.3484500

Joypulv responded:

"I hear you have to stir the salt with a broom handle?
Not sure. All I know is that I have had it with regular $450 water softeners, and lugging bags of salt, and having them break down, and all that sodium chloride.
I sprang for a $1300 non-electric, no salt, no maintenance Pelican. Easy to install, and it descaled everything. It doesn't exchange ions or remove minerals, it turns them into crystals, so they don't harden in pipes, shower heads, washers, or anywhere. It lasts forever, is less than a foot in diameter, and it's easy to install.
Oh - and I'm usually cheap. But I love new technology that actually WORKS."

Mygirlsdad77 responded, "I don't believe the water softener should do anything at all when it is not plugged in? Have you tried plugging it in? Why are you trying this with it not plugged in? Confused."

The owners manual say to do that to drain it slowly out. It is not a salt bridge. It is not draining that way. A part needs to be replaced. Yes you can drain a water softner that way. Yes it states it needs to be unplugged so it stays on the brine cycle to drain or else it will generate through the cycles and your back to square one where you started.

Not to be rude but does anyone have knowledge on this ? Instead of people who know nothing on the actual issue, just replying to rack up reputation points

Not to be rude.. Sorry, but that was VERY rude!

Nobody is racking up "reputation points" here. As unpaid volunteers I want to assure you that we do have better things to do than screw around with anything so ridiculous!

Mygirlsdad77 simply hasn't been in to see your reply to him yet.

Check back periodically and maybe he or someone with more knowledge on this subject will pop in, but you have to be patient (Lee tries to check in most days).

Hi, I just popped in, and now Im back out. Sorry for wasting your time, bsf2. Good luck with your problem.

Oh, and here's a thought, maybe try contacting the installer or manufacturer of the water softener. They may know something about it, and by god they get paid for it.

Many new water softeners are digital, so once they are unplugged, they don't do squat.
