Almost a decade ago, I watched a movie about a Dr. who is 7 months pregnant and travels to a remote place in South America to do field work. While there she dies. Her husband, who is also a Dr. is left to grieve both his wife's and unborn child's death. Then strange ghostly encounters begin happening. They seem to be his wife haunting him. He finally travels to South America himself, following the ghostly promptings of a map symbol that means waterfall, and butterflies (or fireflies) representing his wife's birthmark. It's a great thriller with a touching ending. I'm going crazy trying to find it again.
