I'm not getting an error. In Windows Task Manager, there are 7 instances of dwwin.exe. This doesn't seem right.

When do you last do some serious maintenance on your machine ?

Hello,
What type maintenance are you inquiring about? I have Win XP SP3 loaded. I have been having some problems, i.e. hung apps, Adobe Acrobat 7 hangs 4 out of 5 attempts. There are some other irregularities also (I can't remember exactly at this time what they are). I'm using Kaspersky IS 2012; I've tried downloading 2013, but have been unsuccessful. When I reboot, KIS is set to auto start. The Windows Task Manager shows KIS running, I get no Sys Tray icon showing. I have the switch set to show the networking icon in the Sys Tray; it won't display.

Thank you,
Hal

Sounds like a complete rebuild may well be in order.
Windoze does degrade over time no matter how you maintain things..

Yes, I know it degrades. Adding, moving, deleting, etc. files makes not only your HDD fragmented and also the registry. I hate rebuilding. But, what else can I do! Just out of curiousity, what do you think of programs like IOLO System Mechanic, etc?

Thanks,
Hal
