Hi Im Kristie. So my best friend named Sara is drifting away from me. We've known each other for 9 years know and we are freshmen at high school. It all started in 8th grade when Sara started talking to this other girl named molly. Molly and Sara have basically the same personality, they are both loud and funny and everybody likes them. So they have started to hangout with each other and have sleepover for a whole weekend and I started seeing Sara less and less. Partly because of our schedules. It came to a point were they were basically best friends. Also if I would talk to here and molly would show up she would completely forget about me.! There were times where me and Sara would hangout and I t would be fun, but she was always with molly. Therefore I hated molly. I started making new friends too in 8th grade but wouldn't get too close just in case Sara came back and things go back to normal but it just got worse. That summer I had camp every weekday until 5 so we couldn't hang out then, but I would ask her if she wanted to hang out with me on the weekend. But she would always say she was busy.
Then near my birthday I asked her if she wanted to hang out and she said she was about to go to Maine for a week with a friend and there family. I wasn't made about that so I asked if she would come back in time for my birthday and she said of course. But about a week later and a couple days before my birthday I saw that Sara tweeted "going to turtle beach with molly for a week!<3333" and after reading it I was soooo angry. I decided to text her and let her bring up the situation and she did. She said that she was so sorry that she couldn't come on my birthday and she wishes she can be there. Not even mentioning going with molly ( I spoke to Sara about me not liking molly before). After that I spent my birthday alone ( I don't celebrate my birthday but I invite Sara over. When school started I rarely saw Sara again because of our schedules and she also changed some. She and molly aren't talking anymore :) because of a fight. But the bad news is she started making new friends and is really close with another girl named Claire. Sometimes I ask if she can come over but again with the busy excuse. Just recently I asked again and she said she was busy and "promised" we would hang out but I cracked and txted her that I was mad at her and how she doesn't pay attention to me anymore( I'm very passive so she knew I meant it) she said she was sorry and I was her fault and I shouldn't worry and get hurt by her. Then she told me she misses me and she just looked at some old photos of us ( I believe her there) and invited me to come over in two days. I did but there were other people there too. And now we haven't really spoken since then.
I need help. I want my best friend back. Its still kind of awkward when we are alone but that can change. She has basically been there for me since 1st grade to freshmen in high school. Please help. I can't lose her.

Your friend Sara definitely means a lot to you but that doesn't mean you both just "have to" be best friends forever.. You might not hang out as much as before but that doesn't mean she doesn't care about you.. Why keep other friends away? You and Sara were best friends, you had the highlight of your friendship but now its over.. Be happy for her and try to let people become close to you.. don't resist.. I think a situation like this will work itself out in the end. Maybe if you wait for her other friends to fade away and maybe not ask her to hang for a while, she will realize what she has been missing! Sometimes it is the most fun to hang out with a friend you haven't seen in a while and catch up on everything to refresh your bond! :D

A person is very, very lucky if they keep the same friends in childhood, throughout life. Many people only have 1 or 2 friends that they knew since being teens, and are now in their 60's. People move away, grow apart. Your friend might come back to you, but all you can do is give her time and hope for the best.
