On 18 months probation supervision after acceptance into PTI program in NJ superior court for first time offense. I am concerned about privacy, will everyone including my employer have to know? Have been at same career for 16 years. Who do they contact with this information? I was told after 18 months supervision I would be able to have attorney request record expungement.

Hello r:
If it were me, I would have looked into the ramifications of pleading guilty BEFORE I plead guilty.. Your employer will find out because they're going to REQUIRE that you tell him, or THEY will.
I don't know WHO told you about expungement, but I'll bet it was a cop, or a prosecutor. It would also be my view, that an expungement won't be granted for at least 10 years, IF at all.

I agree with excon,
The probation department will either mail your work place forms to be filed out proving you are working, or many times sends a officer to your work place to verify you are working.
So yes of course your work place will know or find out you are on probation.
Expungement, I agree, don't know who told you that, but unless this is in writing as part of the plea that it would be for sure expunged after probation, I doubt it happens.
Almost always there has to be 7 to 10 years pass before they will expunge it.
Your attorney should have gotten that in writing from them before any plea was done.
