View Full Version : Seriously, why is eating right and exercising so damn difficult?

Because of 22 years of bad eating and a sedentary lifestyle I ballooned up to 325 pounds. Exercise for me is so mind numbingly boring. And don't remember the last time I ate a vegetable or a fruit. Lol

My mother is morbidly obese and so is my father but they don't care at all.
I didn't either but I'm starting to crave friendship and a boyfriend but can't if I don't get the weight off.

I would like to start walking at least but then give up. I start by going outside for 10 min then I get so bored, anxious, and self conscious that I have to go inside.

And what the heck do I eat? At the house we live on basically koolaid, fried chicken, cheese, rice, and junk food. No vegetables, fruits, nothing fresh. Everything we eat is damn near in a box. Lol.

I hate myself by being fat, but don't hate myself enough to do anything about it.

Start by getting healthy food when you go shopping. Do you do the shopping for your home?

Actually no they usually do it. I don't go out much unless I have too.

So move out, get your own place and only eat healthy food. If you can not get the family to go along with you.

First do not eat
Any can food
Any process foods

All veggies need to be fresh, steam them for best health ( or raw)

Lower the meat intake.
Cut back on cheese
Get rid of all of that process sugar items,
Get rid of any already fixed foods.
Limit sweets to a few cookies as a desert or some small sweet item.

Then you walk, bored, use a iPod and listen to music, have a radio on your cell phone.

I started 6 months ago, and now I go for bike rides of up to 4 hours, I just did about 3 miles today in 25 degree weather in the snow. I have had 3 Big Macs in 6 months and went for pizza twice. You can treat some on a diet, just have to control intake.

Instead of fried chicken, make it baked, or cut on and stir fry.

It means changing what you do, how you do it and so on.

I have lost about 50 lbs in 6 months and drop my waist over 2 inches so far.

Find a group. There are even gyms now for overweight people only, with no mirrors, LOL.
I'm 100 lbs overweight. I'd settle for losing 50.
I started a plan the day after Christmas and fell off the wagon after several days. I love sweets and lots of butter.
I do eat plenty of healthy fresh vegetables and actually like them, and I do 95% of all my own cooking from scratch.
Then I eat those cakes, cookies, and ice creams.
You are young (22? Or 22+ childhood?) and CAN lose weight a lot faster than I can at 66!
Find that group or start one by putting signs up in stores around you.

The average person needs only 2000 calories a day, to not gain or lose weight! If you look online, you can find the calories in whatever it is you are eating. I'll bet it's close to 5000 a day.
As other answers have said, you must change some habits, and find something much better to eat, lower in calories. Walking is good, if you plan on working up to a couple of miles a day. Then, increase from there. The best way is to cut calories.
I agree with finding a support group, the best being in person. If you can't do that, then look online for a chat group that you can join for free. I quit smoking using Chantix, then found a group online that I talked with for some time... been 6 years now.
Anyway, you have to change something, and if you can move out, can afford it, you really should. Good luck, and hope you have some great changes in this new year.
