Out of 19 years, I have never been late or missed a child support payment (with no arrears) My daughter just turned 19 and a high school senior in Alabama. DHR stated that a post education extension was not file before her 19th birthday. Also, DHR stated that a post request could have been file but has not been turned in by an attorney yet. My question is, HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT TO BE SURE THAT AN Extension HAS NOT BEEN FILED? My child support is paid for January and the child is 19 already with 3 weeks before the next payment is due in February. WILL I HAVE TO PAY FOR FEBRUARY? Also, COULD AN ATTORNEY BACKDATE PAPERS TO MAKE ME PAY ANYWAY?

Thanks for your time.

WHat you need to do is file to stop it or if you pay through an agency tell them to stop it. Show what evidence you have that your current and the child has reached the age of 19. Good for you for paying on time and steadily. If you still wish to pay so your daughter can attend college then what you might think of doing is create an account and deposit into it so you can choose how to spend it towards her needs. End the child support since you have met your legal obligation.
