Hello I have a 5 year old son that has been sick for over a week with a off and on fever a little history about him: when he gets sick ad has a fever it is usually at the beginning of his sickness with in a day or so the fever is usually gone he may be sickm for a few days after that but he recovers really quickly. This time around the fever keeps coming back at the beginning he did complain of a little ear ache very briefly but was told iwas do to the virus the Sunday night I he went to bed and woke up burning up like it was the first day again so I gave him some tylenol and I took him to the ER the doctor took a look and said his lungs sounded perfect and he checked his ears and said there was no infection at all so he didn't want to give him antibiotics he released him after giving him some ibuprofen and a diagnoses of upper respitory infection and told me to toggle between ibuprofen and the tylenol I was already giving him if needed that was Monday night kept him home from school yesterday. I leave before he gets up so I told his dad he seems OK get him ready and send him to school.. He was sent home beause he had white discharge leaking from his ear. The nurse said this happened in class and when he came in there was none I'm very nervous and what is this if it is not a ear infection P.S he's never had any ear aches or infections to the ear ever

If a child is sick enough to have a fever, by day two, you need to go to the doctor. Your child apparently has an ear infection, which can be terribly painful. Untreated, ear infections can cause hearing loss, which can cause speech problems. Any untreated infection can spread and become more serious, developing into pneumonia, for example.
It's one thing if a child just has a cold, but you are describing more serious symptoms.
So, go to the doctor with the child now.

Time to go to the pediatrician. It can take several days from the time of the onset of the fever until an infection is identified.
Weeping from the ear does indicate infection and possibly eardrum rupture.

Sorry - I missed parts of this and another post today - I'm losing it!
Yeah, I'd still go to your regular pediatrician as recommended by others. There's this terrible flu going around. Also keep in mind, there are bad doctors and there are good doctors who make mistakes, so if you don't feel you got good enough treatment or weren't taken seriously, perservere.
