Does PVC work for bow roof shed roof supports and will it deform in hot sun? What thickness is required?

PVC is DEFINITELY not recommended for this application, especially if the roof has any potential to be exposed to snow, OK?

Click on this link for ideas on how to build a bow roof:

bow roof shed - Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?num=10&hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1210&bih=513&q=bow+roof+shed&oq=bow+roof+shed&gs_l=img.3..0i24l2.1198.3368.0.3702.13.10.0.3.3.0. 95.742.10.10.0...0.0...1ac.1.hiSw3i_kp4s)

With that being said, if you are planning to use this bow vent roof to support only plastic for say a green house in the back yard, you may be able to use 2" PVC pipe, but would need to paint it to keep it from weakening/bowing significantly from sun exposure!

That's my thoughts... wait until others pop in and share their advice as I am in Boston and we get so much snow this just would not be considered a reasonable idea!

Thank you for your reply. We do get some snow. I am going to put plastic on it and use as a boat shed. But I guess I'll have to go back to the Stimson shed design. Just more difficult and more expensive.

Check back for other opinions, OK! I hate to find out that this is common practice for boat sheds in some other states!

For what it is worth, if the angle on the bow roof is steep enough I really don't see why you can't pull it off! Wait for others to present their ideas, OK?
