I am in a Nursing home and a aid was talking to a nurse about me out side of another residents and they just heard bits and pieces and then rumors got started was my hippa rights violation?

Depends on what the Nurse said to the Aid and whether it was in the scope of your treatment.

You cannot sue for rumors. You can sue if untrue statements cause you financial harm.

Ask to speak to someone who handles these complaints in the facility, explain the situation and ask.

Which State? I have some knowledge of nursing home violations in NY.

Where they talking about how mean you were, or talking about your family ? What were they saying. Also the aide has to be informed of medical items that would be within their range of duties

It's possible a violation occurred if the home employees were in discreet if they were discussing your medical details within earshot of other residents. They may have thought they were talking in low enough voices.

You should bring this to the nursing home management. They should reeducate the nurse and aid about discretion.

Your caregivers NEED to communicate about your condition. If EACH one kept SECRET what they knew about you, you'd be dead tomorrow..
