My 98 honda accord lx is having a very unusual problem, it all started a few months ago. During summer,it would take a few starts or sometimes just starts normally but after going some distance, which could b any, from a few metres to a couple of kms, the engine just dies, u cannot do anything, it happens in the middle of the road and speed doesn't matter. The mechanic suggested to change the starter, is it really a started problem? I haven't changed the started yet, but changed the batteries, but still the problem persists, and the funny thing is it happens so randomly that when u take it to a mechanic it doesn't happens, sometimes for days the car is OK, then all of a sudden this problem props up, any help ?

Replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil, located inside the distributor. Apply silicone heat transfer compound to the back of the new ICM. This should solve your problem. It's a good idea to replace the rotor and distributor cap, too--high secondary resistance is often what wrecks the ICM and coil, in the first place.
