Ok, I'm 17 years old. I'm not the type of girls who want to leave the house just because their parents don't let them go to a party, I have serious family issues. My dad controls me, I don't have any rights in this house. He want to force me to wear the hidjab ( I'm muslim ) next year and I don't want to. If I wear the hidjab, he'll control me even more ! I'm not allowed to listen to music, to watch TV shows, to wear skinny jeans or anything that's tight on me. I'm not allowed to go to the cinema, and he yell at me if I spend only 2 hours at my friend's house who lives 5 minutes away from me, and all of that since I'm little. I've never been like any other kids in my school or any of my friends. It's really hard, I'm afraid to think about my future because I know he won't let me do anything. My mom can do nothing, she's subjected to him. He literally controls everyone in the house. I really want to leave when I'll be 18 but I don't have money, he doesn't let me have a job. What should I do ? Please don't tell me to talk with him, he will beat me to death and I'm not joking, I just want to leave this house.

Is 18 a legal age to leave home in Canada? Have you checked into the availability of women's shelters and human rights groups?

Yes it's legal, that's why I want to leave when I'll be 18. No I haven't checked, I'll do it now, thank you.

Do this -- go to your public library and have the reference librarians help you figure out what resources you would have if you left home, i.e. once you turn 18, especially with no job and savings. Do your research now and know what is possible for the future.
