About a year ago I had this lump show up on the back right side of my neck.. It stayed for about 2 weeks and went away... Now it's back in the same spot and I'm getting scared because everything I've read says cancer.. It only hurts slightly when I press it or move my neck a certain way.. It's slightly bigger than last time but in the exact spot. Please ask anything you need to know to further understand. I have two children and can't afford to go to the doctor unless I absolutely have to so I need to find out what it is... I've already had cervical cancer which may be coming back so I really need to address this... Thank you so much!

If you hadn't had cancer, I would have said that it could easily be a cyst or even a swollen lymph node (perhaps your teeth need attention?), but given your history, it makes 100% sense to have it seen, and to get a cancer checkup, now.
What is your health insurance if any?

I don't have medical insurance right now.. That's why I'm trying to get as much info as possible before I spend the money for a doctor... Specially with the holidays and all.. My 2 kids need a good christmas first.. But I seriously am getting very concerned because it's still there after a week and a half.. My brother has had cancer a very bad scare actually, my grandpa died of cancer and a few other people on both sides of my family have as well.. What can I do to further educate myself on this type of problem before I dish out the money got a doctor? Feel free to ask me anything to help you understand my situation. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to help...

Money for a doctor visit is easily found, but if he orders a fine-needle biopsy and other tests? And if there is surgery? Radiation? (mine was $800 or so per treatment for 16 treatments), chemo? How will you pay for all that without insurance?

That's exactly one of my main concerns! I may be eligible for assistance but I know it wouldn't cover it all. I'm 24 2 kids (6&2) my husband has a handyman business but this time of year... Do you think tours that's what it is?

In most hospitals, you can go in through the ER and be examined and even admitted. Medicaid will pay if you have no insurance. Or, go for the exam at your doctor's, pay for it out of pocket, and find out what this lump is, then do the ER thing for treatment.

That's not a bad idea. I really appreciate it.. In your opinion what do you think it ia?
Oh! & what kind of cancer could that be?

First, we'll pray it's not cancer. Second, ask me anything about breast cancer and treatment, and I will tell you more than you want to know, but I don't know what this could be and of course I can't see you and it, plus I'm not an oncologist. It could be a type of skin cancer from sunbathing/exposure or the cervical cancer metastasized or just because of your heritage.
Can you really put this off until after Christmas?

It's late here, so it's even later where you are. Sleep on this and give your doctor a call on Wednesday. Keep me informed, please.

I don't know what to do. My husband doesn't seem to concerned with it.. But he wasn't when the cervical cancer happened either... Like I said it's shrinking so it may go away for another year. I don't know I just need to find someone who knows something about it maybe but they'll probably day see a dr..

Again, how are your teeth... to rule out something like a swollen lymph node.
