My delta 1700 is leaking so I ordered a replacement kit which arrived fine and with a basic blown up schematic (and that's it).

How do you replace the springs and rubber washers on the inside of the brass housing (the one in the wall)? Do I just pop them out with a dental type pic/tool? Do they just press back in?

Also, the delta instructions are multi use for either the 1700 or the 1500/1300. The problem is it says to discard two of the 4 washers that came with my kit if I am have the 1700 series. This is fine but all 4 washers are very similar in size and the delta instructions don't say how to discern between the two (smaller or larger).

Any suggestions?
