View Full Version : How can I figure out if my dad is claiming my sister and me on his taxes still?

Okay, so I was doing some research earlier and my dad's name came up. I looked through it and it had his current address (which is fairly new) and it listed my sister and me as living there when neither of us have lived with him in almost 5 years.

My sister gets claimed by my grandparents for the simple fact that, even though she lives on her own, they pay for pretty much everything.

I have my own children and I'm married. I live in my own house with my family. I've been living on my own in my own place for, like I stated, nearly 5 years.

So, I guess my question is - how can I figure out if my dad is STILL claiming my sister and me on his taxes as if we still live with him? He does NOT pay or help pay for anything we own or take care of (bills, etc). It seems like something he would do in order to get extra money for himself but it also brings up the issue that every time I go to file mine, I get questioned and my taxes get held back longer or I have some sort of issue where I have to call the IRS for answers... I would ask him about it but he will lie to me and tell me otherwise...

Any advice or tips could help! Thanks in advance!

You ask him, no other way to tell, two people cannot claim you, so if someone else is, or you are filing your own taxes, he is not.

Your name on silly internet address searches will show up for 50 years at addresses you never lived at. On most they will always show up every address you ever lived at. I am showing up living in 7 states if you search me, since I used to live there, and all of my kids and several x wives all show up associated with my name. One x wife even shows up at my Georgia address where she never lived.
