5 days ago my husband told me he thought he had a hemorrhoid. He is 33, 5'9 and 155lbs, and is healthy. He was not constipated, and has always had normal daily stools. It seems to have gotten worse the past 5 days. He is using hemorrhoid cream, baby wipes to wipe, and taking epsom salt baths. Today when he stood up at work he felt something come out of his anus, and found blood on his underwear when he went to the bathroom. I know it is normal to see blood when you wipe or in the stool, but is it normal to have blood flow out of nowhere like that? How long does it take for hemorrhoids to clear up, and at what point should he see a doctor? Would a family doctor do, or does he need to see a specialist?

It isn't normal to see blood unless you have hemorroids. His famiily doctor would be good bet, and I think he should do that as soon as possible. Blood appearing from just daily activities from the anus is a cause for concern.
