I had approximately six vodka and grapefruit drinks Friday night and 1 beer stopping at about 1:00 a.m. I am a female 47 about 120 lbs and 5'2"-- I was wondering as it seems the EtG detection time can vary widely but isn't really as long as the 80 hour window claims. If I go in Tuesday would the EtG show up?

Ethyl glucuronide (EtG) testing detection times vary considerably, and can only detect alcohol in your system for UP TO 80 hours, meaning it cannot detect it for that long in every case.

I have attached an excellent journal article (Alcohol & Alcoholism Vol. 42, No. 4, pp. 317–320, 2007) which precisely addresses your question. In summary, the article states:

"...a review of the literature shows this window of detection applies only to extreme cases. EtG testing is becoming more common as a method to test for alcohol consumption in individuals who have been ordered to abstain from alcohol consumption. We tested 19 subjects using commercially
available EtG kits. All urine samples collected more than 26 h after drinking had false negative results."

Hope this helps!
