My father gave me an older car (1992 Honda) over 4 years ago.He passed away in June of 2011. My brother (hasn't worked for years, has mooched off my parents and stole from them for years) has convinced my mother to take the car back because they have a vendetta against my husband. I have a signed bill of sale with my mother's and my signatures on it. I have asked for over a year now for her to give me the title so she would be relieved of anything to do with the car. Since I've had possession of the car and been keeping it up for all these years, can she do this? When I've asked for the title, she has previously said that she couldn't find it, but now they have miraculously found it, but have refused to give it to me, instead have threatened to have my husband arrested for grand theft auto. I have witnesses that have stated that my father had told them that the car was a gift.

If they report it stolen, then you sue them defamation. The signed bill of sale trumps their possession of the title. You should be able to take the bill of sale to the DMV and have a new title issues in your name.
