I need to replace a burner in a Rheem RGDD-06NC-ER (1983). Where can I buy it?

Best bet is to go to a local hvac business with make, model number, and serial number of unit, and ask them to order it for you. There is a slight chance that this particular part is no longer produced, or available, in which case, you will be looking at a new furnace. 1983 makes me think that this may be a Rheem Imperial? If this is the case, burners may still be available, but hard to track down through any source other than a supplier, and the only way to get to a supplier is through a hvac business.

The local hvac folks just want to sell me a whole new system. (They don't like touching older stuff AND they have inventory they want to move.)
The system in place works great, except for the worn out burner assembly. The house had been made energy efficient long before it was in vogue.
I got a quote from Amercian HVAC part for a replacement assembly for 1) $249 for electronic ignition or 2) $290 for hot surface ignition. After going to the property and verifying the correct type I called back. He "lost" his notes and now wants to charge me $490. For the same part, 1) electronic ignition. It ships directly from the manufacturer. That pissed me off. So then I called another supplier and they said that there are none in stock.
Anymore input?
