My baby sleeps on a hammock. I have to rock him back and forth in order for him to go to sleep. However, each time I stop he wakes up and I can't finish my chores around the house. I would want to construct a mechanism in which my hammock can rock on its own so I don't have to do it , and I can do the chores around the house. Can you help?

You are setting a bad precedent by rocking the hammock in the first place so he will go to sleep. The whole point of the hammock is that it is a naturally rocking bed for an infant as he moves and shifts. By rocking it yourself, you push it up a notch to create new expectations for your baby and an obligation for you. It's like training a baby to fall asleep at night by rocking him in a rocking chair. That locks both of you in to a bad habit, that he cannot go to sleep unless he gets rocked.

Ease off on the hammock rocking so that he will get retained to fall asleep naturally.
