I have a 1997 mtd lawn tractor. 12.5hp, 38" cut. It was bumped into in the shed while it was in gear and now I cannot get it out. I tried to move the pin in the axle and it moves freely, but the tractor won't budge.
Can anyone please help??

Hi,
I am not sure what you mean by the pin, but under certain circumstances when the brakes are dragging and the belts have a grip, the two can wedge against each other to lock it. Try lifting one rear wheel, with assistance and moving it with one tire off the ground to see if it will come free.
Also, about that age machine could have the two pins engaging the disc brake were improperly plated and could rust in place. You have to go on the right rear and take apart the outer bracket, knock them free, clean and lube prior to reassembly. Don't leave out that thin steel plate between the pins and pad or the pin will break the pad in half.
Peace,
Clarke
