View Full Version : Do I have a record that potential employers can see from a background check?

I am an adult that plead no contest to the judge for a petty theft incident in spring of 2011, Northern California. Although not arrested, I was required to get fingerprinted and my photo taken @ the police station before attending court. Since I didn't have any type of criminal record, the judge ordered me into a diversion program where I was sentenced to a specific amount of community service which I did complete. I didn't get a misdemeanor but I'm quite worried that it will show up on background checks for future employment... I am currently on disability after having a mental breakdown/early midlife crisis along with a myriad of physical health problems. I am better and looking forward to acquiring a real, full time job by mid 2013. What is going to happen to my future? My background: I'm female, mid 30s, university educated. Absolutely embarrassed and truly regretful.
