I have a 1 and half year old yellow lab who used to eat almost anything. Even after a full sized meal he would beg for more.

Now he hardly eats. It all started when I moved to a different city and my wife moved to her mums flat(not dog friendly) and we had to leave the boy in the kennel for 61 days in total. When I picked him up couple of weeks back he looked Big,I mean fat. He was a big blob and was having trouble walking. Although I was assured that he would be given pet food I believe he was secretly fed people food(This is India so it's always spicy and salty and oily).

Now after being back here he on a regimen of pet food (Pedigree 03 Adult - Meat & Rice) and he does not want to eat it. If he spots some spilt people food he eats them otherwise he just does not bother. The vet has had a look and he says he is OK health-wise and he would revert to his normal eating habit in due course. I for one, am scared. He has lost good 5 - 8 Kilos and he generally seems sad except for when I take him for his daily walks (30 minutes in the morning and 1 hour at nights). Maybe he was around other dogs in the kennel and he feels lonely now, I don't know. Oh yeah, he likes hard boiled eggs, so I try and feed him 4 - 5 eggs per day just so he has some energy.

Is there any way I could make him eat his normal food, which he seemed to like until 3 months back. Should I feed him people food, feed him some medicines, I am at wits end and any help/advice is much appreciated.

Absolutely no people food, obviously had too much of that and no hard boiled eggs. Dogs will not go hungry and I know it is worrisome when it seems they just won't eat. Put his food down, use some tough love because this is what is needed, and nothing else. He will eat when he realizes he is getting nothing else.
