I'm 40 years old and love to play soccer. Here lately my calves hurt so bad, it feels like they are being ripped off the bone. Once I strectch and do an intense warm up the pain is tempararley gone, but as soon as I cool down and relax it's hell. I understand you go through things like this in sports but you would think that iceing every day and living on anti-inflamatories, it would eventually go away. I suffered with shin splints for a while but that has passed. Right now I'm using compression sleeves and it seems to help some. What is going on with my legs and how can I fix this?

You need to be seen by a sports medicine doctor or an orthopedic. It's very possible you are suffering from stress fractures.

Agree with above. Meanwhile, why ice when there is no swelling? I would soak in a hot tub, and drink lots of fluids with those drugs. My calves hurt a lot too, from even a little strenuous activity. But I'm 65 and haven't done all the things people need to do for weight and anti-inflamatory diet.
