I put in a new fuel pump but there's no fire going to the fuel pump. What would cause this?

Did you check for power before installing the new pump? Is it in the gas tank? Check the relay or fuse for the pump. You didn't tell us what car you have so we are running blind here.

This is a two-part problem:

1) Determine if the fuel pump works--jump power to the fuel pump and confirm that it runs. (a Power Probe III is ideal).

2) Determine why the fuel relay doesn't work properly:

. Check all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter.

. Clean the main ECM ground.

. Test that the ECM works.

If the problem persists, there may be no rpm signal being sent to the ECM. There could be a bad distributor trigger (Hall Effect) wheel or Crankshaft Position Sensor or a faulty Ignition Control Module (ICM). Since I don't know what vehicle you have, who knows.
