For the last several months ( and I have been overseas) I have noticed small lumps on either side of the base of my penis. They do not seem to have any discomfort... but I am concerned. Can someone give me their professional opinion on this? When I return to the states I will see my doctor. Thank you.

Lumps and bumps are very common in men and women in their crotch area, because of all the moist warmth away from air. Most are just skin irritation, pimples, cysts, and ingrown hairs. But there are also STDs, and we don't know your history. If you had sex, see a doctor now. Otherwise wait until you get back.

*** These are not cysts, ingrown hairs etc that you have mentioned. Both sides of the base of my penis... feels inside... I am 66... good health... thank you for your reply.

If you mean under the skin, and not tiny, and not actually on the penis but on the groin, then that might be swollen lymph nodes (there are none on the penis). They are a sign of infection, from something mild to something serious.

Thank you for your reply, joypulv... and yes, they are on both sides of base of penis (two inches either way)... maybe a little discomfort every now and then. I will have them checked out upon my return to the U S... ~ Ed Stipp
