I have a health history of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Degenerative Disk Disorder, multiple surgeries including pins and screws in lower back, TIA's resulting in a heart surgery. I am in the process of disability but it takes time to get qualified. I am a 43 yr old white male. I am trying to decide if I should just go to ER and have to find a way to pay the bill. My lower back pain is severe and radiates into my hips, legs etc. This is not my major concern right now although the constant pain is difficult to say the least. I have over the last few months developed a pain in my upper spine and neck. It radiates into my shoulders and chest and also into my head pretty much constantly. I also have slight moments of confusion that seem to be getting greater. It's like the pain just makes my mind cloudy (best way to describe it). My fatigue is constant - just always tired. The pain is horrific and seemingly getting worse and at an 8 to 10 24 hours a day. I have gotten tremors of my head and hands for some time now but now they are now over the last couple weeks preceded by some strange taste and odor in my mouth and nose. My functionality is greatly limited. The question is do I continue to attempt to tough this out or go see the ER? I know the symptom checker on WebMD says 'neck pain seek immediate medical attention' but having been in chronic pain for so long makes me second guess going to ER. The thing is it is getting so bad I don't know if it is possible to continue to tough it out. What is your thoughts?
Things I have been doing: Ibuprofen, ice, heat, rest, on Cymbalta 60 mg daily and asprin 325mg from my heart surgery. Kenosha Community Health Center saw me for cheap but they don't do anything (not even a physical) and tell me to see specialists I can't afford or go get an MRI I also can't afford. They gave me vicodin but a script to take one a day... so I have to decide which 2 hours a day I get slight relief... then just be miserable the other 22 hours in the day.
