Hi,
I want to replace the kitchen tap. The old one has copper pipes, with earth bonding straps attached. The new tap that I want to get from ikea has the flexi-pipes - can I use the flexis instead of copper and do I need to re-attach the bonding straps to the flex-pipe?

Please explain what you mean by "bonding strap". Is this a pipe strap" Some sort of electrical bond? What does it bond? Back top you, Tom

Hi Tom, Yes, it's a strap that is connected to the copper pipe and has an earth wire connected to it.

Ahh! That makes it a electrical ground and you must extend that wire to another metal pipe,

Yes, as Tom said, if you extend the wire(s) so it connects/clamps onto the older metal pipe you can install new flexible supply lines.

If you can follow the ground into the basement or outside the home and find that it isn't connected to anything (i.e. been discontinued) then you don't even need to reconnect the wire at all!
