I've seen this movie twice and still can't remember the title. I want to see it again.
It is a musical (I think). A man runs a merry-go-round. (He's kind of tough) He meets a woman (living in a boarding house for women). They marry. There is a clam bake for the town. This man commits a robbery or something and is killed. He's up in the afterlife shining stars for pennance. He learns his daughter (born after he died) is having troubles. He somehow gets permission to go down and see her (she can't see him). There is a dance sequence with this girl helping show her troubles. I can't remember if the man actually does any good for his daughter during the visit, but I believe he learns something. His visit ends at her high school graduation (outdoors I think).
Ring a bell anyone? It is an older film with those bright colors (probably 50s or 60s).
