I know what it is. I was in the hospital a few years ago. They told me I had diverticulitis in the bowels but it was not inflamed . But I often wonder how they found out. They did not do a colonoscopy? Here is the report:
There is colonic diverticulosis without evidence of an active inflammatory process. The bowl is normal in caliber,
No free air or free fluid. Rectum and bladder appears normal.

Did they examine your stools?

They based their diagnosis on other tests and symptoms - not uncommon.

My late husband actually had a colonoscopy - which the Doctor said indicated nothing. The Doctor was incorrect.
If they had gone by symptoms he would have been diagnosed and spared a handful of years of pain.

So you think the burping and pain are related to the diverticulitis?

I just mentioned it in passing. I was just wondering how the hospital knew about my
Rectum and bowels without doing a colonoscopy.
