Is on-line dating effective? What are the best sites for a novice on-line dater? Is it wise to stay with just one site or is it better to register at multiple sites at the same time. Lastly, what is the best strategy. Is it better to be extremelly selective in picking out who I would want to contact or is a scatter gun approach more effective (ie. Contact as many people as possible and see who bites). Anxious to get feedback on the subject?

The fact that your name is "lionsden" & you are inquiring about online dating... It makes me chuckle! Sorry. Anyway... Try websites that are free! Plenty of fish, Ok Cupid, etc. See which ones work better for you, it might involve some trial & error. Also, don't take on too much at a time. Patience is key. After all, how is it possible to connect with a person when you are talking with several at a time?

Maybe, you can have a try. By the way, be careful, and don't be cheated.

There is no one good site for every locaton, finding one with many local people.
And if you want to just meet and do some dates with various people, don't be so picky, depends on what you want out of this

Perhaps I could change my user name to "Cougarslayer". I actually found an on-line site catered to older females looking for younger men. I'm glad I made you chuckle.
I have never tried on-line dating but a few of my friends have done well with it. Figured I would give it a try. The concept seems pretty cool. I figure it could be worth a try. Send out a few emails a day to profile's I like and see what happens. It's a lot less expensive than going to bars or coffee shops. I think it could be a good supplement to more traditional ways of meeting people.

Hello!
Okcupid is definitely my favorite dating site. They put a lot of effort into the site and it's totally free! I wouldn't try to contact anyone and everyone on there but it's always good to branch out and talk to people you normally wouldn't. They might surprise you! Okcupid has a lot of great features so that you can find someone that you have a lot in common with. Have fun Cougarslayer ;)

Just remember, you will meet many you think are nuts, and some will think the same of you, So the majority end with the first date. Expect it. Next many men are not always who they say there are, ( as many women also) And many men are out to get sex, nothing much more. So treat this like any other dating, safety first

Everyone has good tips. I know there is a possibility that many of the people will look nothing like the photos and how they present themselves on line. I get that. I also assume once the emails and phone calls turn into dates many will end at round 1. Yes some of the women will be weird... but so am I. We are all weird on our own unique ways, right? So I put myself out one of the recommended sites -- so far I'm getting a ton of response. Only emails for now but I'm sure more will materialize later very soon. Let's see how it goes... at least its getting me back out there from the past relationship.
