I live in fort lauderdale and I have a neighbor that has a pitbull... this dog has jumped the fence 3 times and once jumped to attack me, once my german shephard and the last time my 2 yr old grandson... police say they can't do anything becase nobody was hurt... animal control I'm still waiting on... thank god my german shephard was around all three times if not... me and my grandson would me mince meat. What is the law here referring to pitbulls, what can I legally do?

According to broward.org, there is a designation and high fee and special tag for dangerous dogs, but it seems to be only after a dog has been declared dangerous, not according to breed. The broward site does say also that the cities and towns may have their own laws, which is common with dogs. Talk to the Animal Control Officer about that, or call your city hall.
Of course the dog isn't supposed to be able to get out of his yard, so anything he does to you or your family or pets or property is against the law. Animal Control will handle it. To get monetary damages, you have to sue in Small Claims for expenses (pictures, receipts needed).
I think it would be worth it to buy a motion-triggered video camera.

Well personally, the dog would never have made it back to its yard if it jumped the fense and came after me. Sorry to the dog lovers, but that would have been one dead dog since I would have been protecting myself.
Second time, if for some reason I did not do the above, there would be a electric wire on top of the fense to keep him on his side.
