My son is 20 months old and his father has only seen him whenever he was 3 months old his girlfriend then told me in writing that I still have "If your son ever needs anything or he was choking I wouldn't help me. Your son was suppose to be my child, and besides the father is ashame of him." He doesn't pay me child support and to be honest I don't even know his phone number. He has cut all ties to our son. My husband is willing to adopt my son and claim him as his.He has been to every doctor appointment and my son even calls him dad because he doesn't even know his dad. I was just wondering where do I begin and if a judge will agree.

First off find the father of the child and ask about adoption. If he agrees then you can file for adoption through the courts using a lawyer in your local jurisdiction. If he doesn't agree then the road will be much harder. Also you should have already gotten a child support order for the child. If he doesn't agree to the adoption then atleat get a child support order going as it is his resposnibility (not a punishment).

Let us know what happens after contact and we will try to help more. How long have you been married? Most courts like to see a couple married for at least 1 years time.
