Hello! After I finished my period (August 12) I waited about 2 weeks to start my birth control again (I've been on it for almost a year). I started it August 26th. I've been taking it every night, not at the exact time but within 9-11:30 p.m. also I haven't missed one pill. I had unprotected sex September 10th and he came inside me. I was worried that I could be pregnant so I went and took Plan B one step. Am I OK or should I be worried that I could be pregnant?

Since you went off the pill for a while, the pills you started would not have been in full effect yet. Assuming you started them at the correct time, you needed to be on them for another two weeks for them to have had effect.

But?

1. Plan B is not 100 percent effective. How soon after sex did you take it, While it is very effective, it is not 100 percent.

2. The normal birth control pill when taken properly ( and you were not) is not also 100 percent women become pregnant using the pill all the time. It is again, very good but not perfect.

But the pill as you did, will be very low protection.

So , yes you should be protected, since they are normally, but then could you be that one in 1000 or one in 10,000 that is lucky and gets pregnant

I took Plan B 6 hours after. Also on the Trinessa packet it said you only had to wait 7 days until the birth control became effective?
