My husband and I had to break our lease due to job relocation, unfortunately the owner/landlord was not understanding. We knew we would lose our security deposit and are OK with that. And we understand that we are responsible for the remainder of the lease. She was willing to let us pay monthly to her until she rented it out. She told us that she would do everything she can to rent it out, but now she is telling us that we would be responsible for the difference in rent if she rents at a lower rate. Can she do that? And now she wants the remainder of the lease as soon as possible (which we can't do) and if she does rent it out right away and are paying her monthly are we still responsible for the remainder of the lease? Wouldn't that mean she is getting double rent for the house?
