My mom had to pay the courts to adopt my cerebral palsy brother when he turned 18 in Missouri court.in order to keep him from being put in a home.now he's 32 and must have full time supervision not to hurt himself. My mom has never had a job and now she's 60 years old with diabetes and ibs and blind in one eye.Now my dad is committing adultry with a girlfriend and asked my mom for divorce. She gave her whole life to raising us children and caring for my handicap brother. She cooks every meal homeade cleans the home. Now she's scared with no skills and very sick herself. Is there any way she can get a caregiver check to keep my brother instead of putting him in a state institution? His disability check in Missouri is only 400$ per month. If my dad abandons them,What can she do for money or benefits to help keep my brother in our Family.Rent is higher than 400.00 per month. Can she get paid as a job to keep him?if husband leaves her with 0$ income?

Your father will have to pay support for your brother. How much depends on many factors, including your father's income.

No, you cannot be paid to be a caregiver to your child UNLESS Missouri has a program which is unfamiliar to me. I have checked, and I do not find anything which would help her financially.

Has your mother sat down with a Social Worker and gone through this entire scenario? It is obviously less expensive for Missouri to assist your mother than for Missouri to pay for nursing home care.

Your father probably will also have to pay spousal support to your mother.

She needs an Attorney. Has she tried Legal Aid, other resources?
