Hi, I'm 30 but my hair has started to go grey a few years back, so I have to dye my roots regularly. I do nothing fancy - I'm a brunette, so I just use any dark colour from L'Oreal or Scharzkopf.
My hair is naturally wavy, but the waves normally come out after I wash it and have disappeared by the next day. Also, right now my hair is very long, so it has no body to speak of except right after I wash it. This is a problem because I have thinning hair where my hair parts, just on top of my forehead, so I'd like to conceal that by leaving it loose. Instead I end up with a loose braid whoch just underlines the problem.
I am thinking about cutting it a bit and doing a perm, so I can leave it loose and it will look good, but is this a good idea if I need to touch up my roots? Any other options? I am very bad at styling, so I need something easy to maintain!
Thank you very much!

Well, my opinion is gray hair. I died it blond for years until it got repititous and a drag. Now I am quite happy with my gray. It is healthy, happy and easy to deal with in a short style.

If you perm, you may lose more hair, it is already stressed out; I would suggest some home treatments with olive oil. Heat about an ounce of olive oil in the microwave until just warm, work into dry hair, cover with hot towel for l0 minutes, sit down and relax. Washes out just great with any shampoo.

You can do this as often as you like, will not harm your hair, only benefit it, roots and all!

You might want to up your intake of vitamins A and D with foods rich in them or with supplements. To rehab my thinning hair after a bad go-round with anemia, I tried Viviscal - The Best Hair Loss Treatment & Vitamins for Hair Growth (http://www.viviscal.com/) only the pills for three months with some improvement (taking them for at least six months is recommended) -- but they are pricey (although they can be easily obtained on Amazon or at Drugstore.com and may be on sale now and then). And of course, the company encourages the entire treatment program with shampoos, etc. so even more money can be spent on this product.
