Hi! I'm going through a really rough time right now and would like some real help and support. This is my situation; ever since I was pregnant at 19 yrs of age the biological father of my son didn't seem interested. Now, since my son was born until about 1 1/2 years old, my son's father hasn't been seeing him nor bought anything for him. From my son being 2-3yrs of age, I personally drove back and forth helping my son and his father see each other. As of summer 2010, Ive stopped the transportation help, because I believe he was taking advantage of my help and I believe that he should be taking more interest in his child and his responsibilities. So in 2011, I went to court on my own will and got joint custody with him. He has visitation every other weekend; I had this done to better the other of us in equal rights and so that he would stop blaming me that I'm keeping him from his son. On top of that, he stop paying child support for 10 months. Now this year, 2012 is worse. The last child support was back in April... it was $20.51. He wasn't involved AT ALL in our son's education and caused him to miss up to 5 days of school! I actually drove other to my son's father's house and made him get out of bed and took him to my son's first day of Headstart. And as of now, I've received a supena for court because of his lack of child support. My son's father just has no parental responsibilities... he thinks having kids is just all fun-n-games. He only gets our son on holidays for family parties just to show my son off like he's a trophy. Disgusting right? Now, I'm trying to see, do I have enough evidence of him "abandoning and non-interest" in our child for my to file for full custody or even sole custody? I don't want to keep them apart, that's not me, but he is making it seem like I am. I just don't think he wants the responsibility of being a parent, all he's interested in is the title... "Father".
