My 18 yr old daughter just graduated from high school and lives with me. She has a newborn who's been in the NICU for 7 weeks but is due home next week. She does not have health insurance or a job (she had been planning on college) and because of the baby's needs will not be able to for now. Will my income be considered when applying for welfare benefits? (I am on a teachers salary and also have a 13 yr old) She has also been told to apply for SSI for the baby who has brain damage though it's unclear as to what extent.

Depends on the State but, yes, it's household income.

Has she filed for child support from the father?

I'm sorry that you are all of this in front of you right now - I really am. It sounds like the situation went from bad to worse. This isn't the sympathy board, but this has touched me.
