Im 40 weeks pregnant today and still no sign of baby

I was 2/5 engaged beginning of week ( seen by midwife) and I've tried everything, pineapple, sex, sex and sex, walks, raspberry leaf tea but nothing

But I do have a few mild pains around my pelvic area... please tell me that labour will soon be here!!

The baby will be here when it's ready. Are you seeing your Dr. weekly at this point in your pregnancy? If so, what did the Dr. say?

It's possible that you could go into labor soon, but I've had patients who lost their mucous plug as many as 2 weeks before labor began.

Did you ring your midwife to ask her how far along before an induction is considered.

I'm not saying that YOU have to wait that long. I've just seen it happen to some of my patients.

You need to ask her even if she does sweep you. You are too close to being post-date, and that can put your baby at risk. You definitely don't want to go 2 more weeks, that's for sure!

It doesn't say anything in my notes about a sweep or anything, so if she doesn't do anything I will defo ask for something! Its getting too much! :(

I tried everything yesterday, long walk, curry, hot bath, raspberry leaf tea, and the only thing that happnd was heartburn from the curry lol xx

Maybe this is what she means?

What is a membrane sweep? (http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/labourandbirth/labour/membranesweepexpert/)

Please explain 'sweep' ?

A sweep is where the midwife uses he's fingers to rub around my cervixs to realse hormone to try and bring on contraction

Is "sweeping" commonly done in late pregnancy or when the mother is overdue? I've never heard of it.

Im 40 weeks and 5 days pregnant and yesterday I had a sweep from my midwife with was uncomfortable but didn't really hurt!

I had pain yesterday but it was a bit irregular and had a little pain today.

But I put a pad on yesterday when I got back because the midwife said I could bleed and leak mucus ( sorry tmi) and I've been wearing one today as well and every time I go to the toilet I notice like a yellowish discharge.

Is this my waters breaking slightly or is that the mucus from my cervix!

Please help!!
x

Thanks

Can anyone give me some advice...

I'm 40 weeks and 6 days pregnant, I had a sweep thur and since then been discharging mucus ( sorry tmi) but this morning I got woken up at 4.30 am with really bad pain in my pelvic and then my tummy started going hard and then the pain would travel down to my pelvic and so on. This happened for about an hour, I changed position and walked around for a little and the pain was still there getting worse! But then the pain went away. Ive had a little pain in my pelvic area all day but not that bad but I've had really bad sharp back ache! Ive been for a walk to try and help.

But I was wondering if this is the start of labour or not! I really want my baby out now!

Please help

My labor felt like horrible menstrual cramps that increasingly got worse. I had horrible back pain, too. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is the beginning of labor for you!

I would really recommend that you call your OBGYN. That's what he/she is there for, for concerns like this.

It's rare for a woman to not know when she's in labor for real.

With real labor walking around usually makes the labor pains come on stronger. The fact that your pains stopped makes me think this isn't labor. But that's just a guess. A guess is all we can offer on the internet. Your doctor can give you facts.

Call your doctor.

Im 41 weeks pregnant and 1 day and I had a sweep 4 days ago.

Since then I've wore a pad because the midwife told me I could leak mucus. But since then I've noticed like a yellowish discharge on my pad, it doesn't feel like I need to pee or anything but sometimes during the day I get the feeling like you do when your on your period, you know the fluid is coming out! Its not really thick and it doesn't smell

Could this be my waters breaking slowly or is it just my cervix thinning out and mucus from it.

Please advice!

It very well could be a slow leak in your membranes. You should have this checked out by your midwife.

Have they discussed a possible induction date with you yet? You are getting a little too far along to continue this way.

Induction isn't as scary as people seem to make it. I'm actually doing an induction with a patient right now and she's sleeping soundly.

It feels like regular labor, it just starts a little quicker.

Terriann89

Would you suggest the gel or tablet when I get induced? X

J_9
Sep 10, 2012, 04:07 AM
I'm not sure how they do it in your country. Here in the US what is used for an induction depends on whether the cervix is dilated and how much it is dilated.

Terriann89
Sep 10, 2012, 04:09 AM
Oh! Well I was 1cm last week when I had my sweep! They said when I'm being induced they first either insert a hormone gel or tablet and wait for 6 hours, if that doesn't work then break my waters x

J_9
Sep 10, 2012, 04:11 AM
Here in the US we use something called Cervadil. It's a vaginal insert that looks something like a very small flattened tampon that has medication on it that softens the cervix and makes it ready to dilate. After that, we use Pitocin though an IV to help start the contractions.

Terriann89
Sep 10, 2012, 04:13 AM
Its different then! I'm glad I don't live in the US, I don't like needles so I would hate a IV lol x

J_9
Sep 10, 2012, 04:15 AM
Here the IVs are necessary because our gals are not allowed to eat or drink during labor in case of emergency surgery.

Goodness girl... No one LIKES needles! LOL
