I had a rear flush toilet installed two years ago in my basement. The toilet hasn't been used more than 5 times since installation. I went to flush it today and it won't flush completely. Water just seems to circulate in bowl and nothing goes down. Any suggestions? Thanks so much in advance for your assistance.

Like a normal toilet try plunging first, if that does not help after 6-7 plunges then a toilet auger is the next step. Incomplete flushes as most often due to partially blocked traps.

Looks like I'm going to have to get a toilet auger. The plunger hasn't helped. Thanks so much!

Augers are fairly cheap and can be found at almost any hardware store or box store. You can also rent them for about $3. How to Clear a Toilet Clog using a Closet Auger - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oyfjKLXwHk)

Hi KCCG

Is this toilet the lowest fixture in the home? Are you having trouble with any other fixtures in the basement?

Try this...

Fill a tub upstairs and then drain it. While the tub is draining go downstairs and watch the toilet bowl... does it bubble or does the water rise? If the toilet bubbles or the water rises in the toilet I suspect that you may have a partially clogged main drain line... requires more than a closet auger, for sure!

Try the tub drain test... let us know what happens, OK?
