Hi, I'm Laura and I'm 16. I understand that I'm still young and that I have a lot of time to settle down and to find a boyfriend and what not, but I feel I will never be loved for me. I have had previous relationships with boys that have not ended well. They have either been with me to satisfy their sexual needs or I was sharing him with about 5 other girls. I find it hard getting a boyfriend because of my issues with trusting them as I feel they will end up lying to me and it will be the same old routine. I also find it hard to take compliments off boys as I feel they don't mean it and say it to every other girl as well. This has recently become a problem as I have found someone that I really like but I don't feel like I can have relationship with him as I have these problems. Please help!

Its your young age... by the time you are 20 or so... you will have matured a great deal more, and understand many of these feelings, and grown beyond some of them. Maybe its best to AVOID sexual relationships with anyone until then.
It will allow you to get your bearings... or said another way... give you a chance to have a fresh look from the outside so you can see your own previous mistakes.

Its also the boys' age. Boys mature slower than girls but they are faster in reaching their sexual peaks. So, don't invest yourself worth in what boys think of you now. You are worth more than the mere attention given by them. At that age it is almost always superficial. And their intentions not great... not their fault... just the way they are wired naturally. Save yourself from hundreds of hours in therapy when you are older and lots more disappointment by getting yourself worth from within. Love yourself first. Don't wait for someone else to. Once you truly do.. it shines through and guys will notice that. The rest will happen naturally. So, put your shoulders back and a smile on your face.. you'll feel a little better each time you do.
