Companions isn't it like very good friends?
Don't think there is a law stating any age! ;)

yea I know that is one type of companion but another is to do with a realationship like I am trying to define with I just have a comanionship with my boyfriend although I love him dearly I don't know if it is in return so I am unsure on weather he is just staying with me because he values our closeness and friendship

Yes communication, its key, talk with each other, don't dwell on it or it might just become a storm.

You are never to young, each relationship you have with any person on this world is unique in its own way. I don't think there are any rules...

In regards to friends - not exactly your situation but I have a friend who is 15 I am 21. We both enjoy kayaking so go out together as well as going holiday + kayaking. We share a hobby therefore we are friends. There is a 6 year difference there but he is mature enough and I enjoy his company. I had one friend who was 62. If its right for you then keep it that way :)

I have had many friends, many ages, friends that stay with you through thick and thin are priceless. And it seems you only find a few of them so hold on to them...
