Hello,

I came in US in Mid August 2006 and my company deduct tax at source. As I am here for less than 180 days in US can I get the full 100% Federal Tax return?

I came to know that there is a provision of full federal tax return if you have paid tax up to a limit and you are in US for less than 180 days. Can you pl. provide me the details?

Thank You

Peter:

Need a LOT more detail, like:

- Visa status?

- From WHERE did you get paid?

- Did your company have a U.S.-based office?

Hello,

I came in US in Mid August 2006 and my company deduct tax at source. As I am here for less than 180 days in US can I get the full 100% Federal Tax return?

I am here on L1 visa and my company is a indian software company with offices in US. My company is giving me fixed salary in US.

I came to know that there is a provision of full federal tax return if you have paid tax up to a limit and you are in US for less than 180 days. Can you pl. provide me the details?

Please also provide the details of that provison so that I can also judge if I am not missing any criteria to be eligible for this refund.

Thank You

Peter

There is NO dollar limit per se. It is the number of days in the U.S. PLUS the source of income.

In my opinion, the fact that you were paid from U.S.-based office made you liable for U.S. taxes.
