A cube of side l rests on a surface . By what height will the centre of mass of cube rise if a bullet is fired with velocity v at a length 2/3l from the surface.

I don't believe this problem can be solved with the linited anount of information provided. We need to know:

- mass of the cube
- the type of collision between bullet and cube - is it elastic? Ineleastic? Or does the bullet penetrate the cube some distance?
- the type of friction between cube and the floor - is it frictionless? Or does it have a static coefficient of friction that keeps it from sliding?
